Wellness – [noun] the state of being healthy.
A word we hear more and more these days. So much so the industry is estimate to be worth $3.7 trillion (!) but what is wellness? What does it really mean? The dictionary defines it as the state of being healthy. Being healthy has traditionally been seen as free from illness but wellness is really so much more than that. For me, Wellness.com has the best explanation “Wellness is the realization of our true potential to live a healthier, happier and more successful existence”. To do this we need to pursue a positive lifestyle that encoprorates the health of our mind, body and spirit which leads to state of optimal being where we are not just free from illness but we are proactively defending against it and living a truly happy and balanced life.
We are responsible for making the choices that influence our physical, mental and spirtual health and it’s important that we are educated on how to make these choices. This blog will look at the ways we can adopt habits and behaviors that promote better health and an improved quality of life. It will also combine my other loves, travel and beauty. I will be sharing all my wellness travel adventures and the special packages I’m in the process of creating for the travel company Fleewinter.com. Updates coming very soon!
FYI: I am in no way perfect. I should be exercising more, sometimes my diet is shameful and I love my wine! But no one is perfect and it’s the trying that counts.
