Deciem has done it again! Oh, how I love this brand! They announced on November 1st that they would be having a mass blackout on November 29, meaning all Deciem stores, as well as the online shop, will be closed for the entire day! The reasoning behind the decision is admirable, they say Black Friday turns all of us into seething consumerists, desperate to get the best deals on things we likely don’t even need. And Deciem doesn’t want to support that.
Deciem Discount for all of November!
“Hyper-consumerism poses one of the biggest threats to the planet, and flash sales can often lead to rushed purchasing decisions, driven by the fear of a sell-out,” reads the Instagram caption. “We no longer feel that Black Friday is an earth or consumer-friendly event, and have therefore decided to close our website and stores for a moment of nothingness on the 29th November.”
And I completely agree! Black Friday only really started a few years ago in Ireland and now it has become this huge event! I think if you do it correctly and only buy what you really really need, you can get some amazing deals. But as Deciem says flash sales often lead to rushed purchasing decisions. And I am very guilty of this!! In previous years Deciem has done amazing discounts on a few select products which I purchased even though I didn’t really need them…
But in even better news, Deciem is giving 23% discount off EVERYTHING for the month of November!!! So if you’ve been using The Ordinary and want to try out some other brands now is the best time to do it! I’ve talked about my top The Ordinary products but keep reading for some of my other favourite products from Deciem and also which ones I want to try!
NIOD
NIOD stands for Non Invasive Options in Dermatology. Its packaging and formulas are a little more luxe than The Ordinary so the prices are slightly higher. The brand focuses on new-gen technology and pushing the limits of science in skincare.
Top Picks
One of my favourite masks! I always get complimented on my skin after using this. I give a full run down on why this made my Best of Beauty 2018 here.
Another one of my favourite masks. This overnight mask helps to improve cell communication, which is a bit complicated to explain but my skin always looks amazing when I wake up in the morning.
Perfect for irritated skin from protective face masks, modulating glucosides is a concentrated emulsion to target signs of skin sensitivity, of discomfort and of irritation. This serum reduces the looks of redness, of itching and of irritation, while helping to target stinging sensations. The formula respects skin integrity and supports hydration, skin barrier and general dermal repair.
A comprehensive treatment to improve the looks of lip colour, volume, texture, softness and contour, combining a wide borrowing from peptide technology and bio-technology.
Hyalmide
Hylamide falls somewhere in the middle of The Ordinary and NIOD. With user-friendly product names including Booster Pore Control, Booster Sensitive Fix and High-Efficiency Face Cleaner, Hylamide is a little easier to navigate than The Ordinary.
Top Picks
Like photoshop in a cream! It literally smoothes away any little line and makes you look like an Instagram filter in real life (but in a good way).
Anything that can help my skin be less sensitive I want to try! This sounds like it might be good for around my chin, which is super super sensitive!
I love the sound of this! Fake tan can be very drying on the face and always looks sort of dirty. “Fast-acting Booster creates a radiant backdrop to the skin while a fermentation-derived keto-sugar builds a golden glow within 2-3 days.”
The Chemistry Brand
Deciem’s body range. The Chemistry Brand a range of solutions for hand rejuvenation, scar reduction, skin hydration and reducing the growth of body hair! I purchased the Inhibtif Body Serum about two years ago in one of Deciems Black Friday sales and surprise surprise, I never got round to using it… What is it Deciem says in their instagram post – something about skincare decisions should be based on education rather than impulse… Anyhoo, see below for my top 3 picks from The Chemistry Brand.
When I can I prefer to use a fake tan without DHA, so I would love to see what colour this develops into.. I’m so pale it can take a lot just to make me look alive..
The Chemistry Brand Hand Chemistry Pro Repair Skincare for hands.
Our hands are one of the first places on our body to show signs of aging. This Concentrated multi-functional hand cream targets 8 signs of hand aging simultaneously. improves the looks of firmness, elasticity, density, evenness, brightness, texture, smoothness and hydration.
The Chemistry Brand Hyaluronic Concentrate
Who doesn’t want a big tub of hyaluronic acid??? I’d fill a bath up and sit in it if I could! This would be great for keeping by the bed and using on your hands an arms
HIF
Deciem’s haircare range hasn’t got a lot of attention and to be honest, the product I tried didn’t wow me… but just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. Described as
“Dry cleaning for your hair only with water. In one simple, gentle step, HIF deep cleanses with cleansing fractions instead of common detergents while a long list of conditioning technologies, exotic oils, hyaluronic acid and precious rock extracts leave the hair in prime condition”
Hmmmm…….
Top Picks – There are only two products, so here they are….
